چکیده

For the past decade, Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology has gained a significant momentum. It has promised to improve the efficiency of supply chain and library management by providing the automatic identification and data capture. It is expected that RFID will replace a barcode system in the near future. However, a large volume of data, resulting from the fast capturing RFID readers and huge number of tags, poses challenges for data management. Some of the captured data have errors such as data duplication or miss reads. Existing techniques are unable to eliminate RFID data duplication while correctly identifying the correct location of the tag. In this study, a location filtering and duplication elimination for RFID data streams based on set theory are proposed. Experimental results show that the proposed method has better quality of output data and at the same time provides the exact location of the tag.

Efficiently Filtering RFID Data Streams

RFID holds the promise of real-time identifying, locating, tracking and monitoring physical objects without line of sight, and can be used for a wide range of pervasive computing applications. To achieve these goals, RFID data has to be collected, filtered, and transformed into semantic application data. RFID data, however, contains false readings and duplicates. Such data cannot be used direct...

Original scientific paper Recently, RFID technology has been widely used in many applications such as object monitoring and tracing due to the unique features such as noncontact, automatic, fast and multi-target identification simultaneously. However, because of the interference of environmental factors and the requirement of real-time detection, the data collected by the RFID readers are often...

Energy Efficient In-network RFID Data Filtering Scheme in Wireless Sensor Networks

RFID (Radio frequency identification) and wireless sensor networks are backbone technologies for pervasive environments. In integration of RFID and WSN, RFID data uses WSN protocols for multi-hop communications. Energy is a critical issue in WSNs; however, RFID data contains a lot of duplication. These duplications can be eliminated at the base station, but unnecessary transmissions of duplicat...

Proactive Redundant Data Filtering Scheme for Combined RFID and Sensor Networks

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is gaining significant thrust in many application fields such as identification and real-time localization systems. Consequently, nowadays, the demand for integrated RFID-Sensors networks is increasing. Usually, numerous RFID-Sensors are deployed to form such types of networks. Then, an RFID tag can be located in the reading field of more than one reader th...

An Approach for Removing Redundant Data from RFID Data Streams

Radio frequency identification (RFID) systems are emerging as the primary object identification mechanism, especially in supply chain management. However, RFID naturally generates a large amount of duplicate readings. Removing these duplicates from the RFID data stream is paramount as it does not contribute new information to the system and wastes system resources. Existing approaches to deal w...
